STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO GETTING TO HMP BRISTOL BY CAR
From the M4 take the M32. Take the second exit (Junction 2) and go down the slip road and under the motorway following the signs to Horfield. This is Muller Road. Follow it for about a mile. There are several sets of traffic lights until you go under a railway bridge. There are allotments on the left.
Take the next left which is Ralph Road. Go up this to the T junction at the top where you turn right.
Follow this road to another T junction (with traffic lights) and turn left into Gloucester Road.
Cambridge Road is a couple of blocks down on the right just past a small Sainsbury with a zebra crossing outside it. The Golden Lion pub with a heavily painted facade is on the corner of Cambridge Road.
Parking can be found in the streets nearby and you shouldn?t need to walk more than five or ten minutes to the prison.
To get back to the M32 after your visit
Turn left out of Cambridge Road into the Gloucester Road up to the first set of traffic lights and turn right. Take the first left and follow this road round to traffic lights at a cross roads. Turn right here and you are on Muller Road again and which will take you back the way you came to the M32.
By car from the M5
Exit at junction 16 and follow the A38 which becomes the Gloucester Rd (signposted Horfield). You keep going initially on dual carriageway through roundabouts and over a flyover, across another roundabout and then on to an ordinary two-way road.
About two miles after this (over more roundabouts and traffic lights), start looking out for a zebra crossing with a small Sainsbury's Local on a corner on the right. The Golden Lion pub with a heavily painted facade is on the corner of the next turning on the right which is Cambridge Road. Parking can be found in the streets nearby and you shouldn?t need to walk more than five minutes or ten minutes to the prison.
You can return to the M5 the same way.
