COUNTDOWN TO ELECTION DAY

On election day 2010, another 53 people will be released from prison with no home to go to.

As many as 48 children will be separated from their mother due to her imprisonment. That’s enough to fill two primary school classrooms.

The state will spend £30 million dealing with the consequences of re-offending.

And we’ll elect a new government. What will it do to help prisoners and their families make a fresh start?
