Piloting a new way of supporting prisoners' families

In June 2009 the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) asked pact to develop a new way of providing prison-based family support, linking prisoners and their families to the community-based support that they need in order to maintain a successful family life during imprisonment and on release.

This pilot is being evaluated by Professor Gwyneth Boswell.


New family visitors’ centre at Wormwood Scrubs to help cut crime in the capital

Prison staff, families and locals came together today to mark the start of a project to build a new family visitors’ centre at one of London’s most famous prisons, Wormwood Scrubs in West London.

pact today welcomed the Justice Secretary’s commitment to reform prisons and the criminal justice system. pact praised Kenneth Clarke for his intelligent assessment of the crisis in the overcrowded prison system, but the charity also urged caution over a quick fix approach.


Get ready for Prisoners' Sunday

Every year, churches up and down the country mark Prisoners' Sunday - a day for you to think about, pray for and act for all those affected by imprisonment.

This year, Prisoners' Sunday will fall on 21st November - but churches are encouraged to mark the date on any Sunday in November that they choose.

The theme of this year's Prisoners' Sunday and Prisons Week is Be With Me.


London Marathon runners raise over £7,000 for pact

On Sunday the 25th of April four fit and determined people ran the London Marathon – an incredible 26 miles from Black Heath to the Mall. Alongside some of the fastest people in the world, our runners went the whole distance for pact and are well on their way to raising a combined total of over £7,000.
