Latest News Pact welcomes new tests for legal highs Pact welcomes the news from Prisons Minister Andrew Selous that new tests will be introduced to detect the use of legal highs such as 'Spice' and 'Black Mamba.' The news comes as Ministers attempt to curb the rising tide of violence in prisons across England and Wales and this is one of the steps being taken to make prison a safer place for inmates. The use of legal highs in prison has become "a real problem for governors" according to Frances Crook, Chief Executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform and many inamtes have ended up in hospital and seriously ill after taking these substances. At Pact, we have worked with the families of prisoners to help educate them on the dangers of legal highs. We hope that there will be more support and advice made available for families who fear that their loved one is taking legal highs in prison and provide guidance on what they can do to help.
