Prisons Week How you can mark the day Host an open discussion or prayer group With the current prison population in England and Wales at around 86,000 people, the impacts of imprisonment on society are far reaching. It’s worth taking time to reflect on just how many people around us, including members of our own community, are affected. Raising the subject of prisoners and their families is a good starting point to enable people to think about the realities that are faced by people when a loved one goes to prison. Using the resources provided, we implore you to start a discussion in your community which may lead the way to openness and understanding. The resources look to address areas of misconception and stereotype in relation to those affected by the criminal justice system and how we as individuals and communities can act as beacons of hope and a fresh start. We welcome your feedback and would like to hear the outcomes of your discussion.
