NEW Training For 2021

Suicide Awareness Training

The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) is a collaboration of National Health Service trusts, charities, businesses and individuals who are all committed to suicide prevention in the UK and beyond. They are an alliance of people and organisations coming together around one basic principle: Suicide is preventable

On the website for ZSA (www.zerosuicidealliance.com) there is a link to a training programme around Suicide Awareness. This is for anyone to register and complete. It is free to do so.

More information is on the website with regards to Suicide Awareness along with resources which are all free to use.

Due to Covid, Mental Health has been impacted as a nation – we all have a responsibility to check in on our family, friends, co-workers and service users. We need to learn to recognise signs and signpost. The Samaritans would be a great service to use and if people feel unable to discuss their Mental Health with others, they are encouraged to do so with the Samaritans on 116 123.

Communication and Care are essential – Reach out

It is good to talk

As a nation, we see in the region of 6000 suicides per year. Of this number, a significant amount are of people within the prison and probation system.
Of these 6000 suicides, this impacts on average about 50,000 people (family, friends, colleagues, managers etc).

This costs the nation approximately £1.7 million per suicide in loss and £10 billion a year in losses as a whole. This is directly through the suicide and following on from this loss from productivity/costs/long term impacts in those left behind
