Find out more about supporting Pact through Gift Aid, payroll giving and giving as you shop online.

Gift Aid

Your donations already make a genuine difference in strengthening family relationships impacted by imprisonment and reducing the harm caused by prison on prisoners, families and children - but you can help them go further. Donating through Gift Aid means Pact can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, at no extra cost to you.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a scheme run by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to allow charities to recover the tax paid on most donations we receive. This means we receive extra money from these donations, at no extra cost to our supporters.

How much extra can you claim?

Pact can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate. We can do this as long as you make the donation from your own funds and have paid at least the basic rate of UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax during the tax year. We cannot claim Gift Aid on donations made through Parish or group collections.

How do I give?

  • You can tick the Gift Aid box on any donations you make to us by post or on our website.
  • You can download and complete a gift declaration form and send it to us at [email protected]. This form will allow us to claim Gift Aid on donations you have made in the past four years, and any donations you make going forward.
  • We can send you a separate Gift Aid form to fill in if you would prefer. Just get in touch with us on [email protected]

What happens if I no longer want to give, or am not eligible to give Gift Aid?

If your circumstances change and you no longer pay enough tax, it’s important to tell us. You can email us at [email protected] to remove yourself from our Gift Aid claim process at anytime. It’s important to tell us as soon as possible if your circumstances change because if you don't tell us and we continue claiming Gift Aid, you will need to pay the difference back to HMRC.

How do I find out more?

You can find out more about Gift Aid on the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) website.

Payroll giving

Your employer might offer a Payroll Giving Scheme: a tax-efficient way to give, allowing you to give straight from your salary or pension before tax is deducted from your income.

The tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay. To donate £1, you pay:

  • 80p if you’re a basic rate taxpayer.
  • 60p if you’re a higher rate taxpayer.
  • 55p if you’re an additional rate taxpayer.

To enroll in a Payroll Giving Scheme, please speak to your employer.

Giving as you shop online

You shop. Amazon Smile gives.

Did you know that you can raise money for Pact with every purchase that you make through Amazon Smile

Amazon Smile has the same products, the same prices and the same service as the regular Amazon website, but when you checkout, Amazon will donate a small percentage of the purchase price to Pact. It doesn't cost you anything - all you need to do is log in to www.smile.amazon.co.uk and shop as usual.

Thank you for choosing to support us in this way. We're grateful for every single donation.
