Big Give Summer Holiday Campaign

Help us ensure a stunner summer for children with parents in prison

This summer, some children will be missing more than just a holiday. Each year, nearly 200,000 have a parent in prison, with many losing their homes, their friends, and everything they know. While it can’t promise sunshine, a donation to our Big Give campaign this July can help us to make this summer a little brighter for thousands of children and families.

Children and young people with parents in prison often face disrupted home lives, emotional distress, stigma and judgement in their community, difficulties at school, and social isolation. While many go on to lead happy and fulfilling lives, for others, the experience has severe and far-reaching consequences.

There is still no statutory safety net in place to support children and young people with a parent in prison. But we do know that the right support is crucial in minimising long-term harm and helping them to thrive. Your support helps us build stronger families and ensures that no child faces the challenge alone.

Summer family days in prisons

One of the many ways we keep families in touch is through summer family days. Family days offer children and parents in prison the opportunity to enjoy time together in a longer, more relaxed visit. Pact teams organise games, crafts, and special visitors to keep everyone entertained. Last year, activities included ‘sandcastle’ making, sports day themed races, sand art, pebble painting, and cuddles with a few furry – and not so furry - friends.

Face-to-face visits are hugely important for children and their parents in prison. People who receive visits during their sentence are 39% less likely to reoffend. Pact’s work to make visits child-friendly and support the whole family on their journey means better outcomes for everyone. So, how can you help?

Double the impact of your donation this July

Between Monday 21 July and Monday 28 July, our Big Give Summer Holiday campaign allows you to double the difference your donation makes. Every donation we receive through the platform will be match-funded, turning every pound into two at no extra cost to you!

Your support this summer can help us:

  • Support children and families to stay in touch with loved ones in prison, providing practical and emotional support throughout their journey
  • Help people in prison build healthy relationships and reduce the chance of reoffending—breaking the cycle for good.
  • Develop and expand innovative services across the justice system, shaped by the real needs of real families.

The campaign goes live at 12pm on 21 July 2025 and runs until 12pm on 28 July 2025.
