Pacts responds to HMI Prisons report on Pentonville

In response to the publication of the HMI Prisons report on HMP Pentonville, Ellen Green, Deputy CEO of Pact said: 

"This is an alarming report that once again lays bare the desperate state of the prison and the squalid conditions in which men are being held. Of particular concern is the lack of support for people at imminent risk of self-harm. 

"This report is another reminder that our prison system is in the midst of a crisis. In the last year, the Government has taken a number of welcome steps to address the many pressures on the system, but the scale of the challenge is huge.

"As the charity that supports prisoners to stay in touch with their family at HMP Pentonville, we offer HMPPS our full support in efforts to improve standards in the prison."
