Trustee opportunity: help shape the future of Pact

Every day, Pact supports people in prison, people with convictions, and their children and families to make a fresh start. Through services in prisons, courts and communities across England and Wales, we help families stay connected, support rehabilitation, and build safer, stronger communities.

We're a growing, financially strong charity with more than 350 staff and hundreds of volunteers who contribute over 100,000 hours of support each year. We work in over half of prisons across England and Wales, providing vital support at some of the most challenging moments in people's lives.

We're looking for a new Trustee to join our Board and Chair our Audit Committee, following the retirement of our current Treasurer after many years of distinguished service. We're particularly keen to hear from people with senior experience in accountancy, audit, finance, risk or governance.

But we’re looking for more than professional experience. Above all, we're looking for someone who shares our values and wants to use their experience to help an ambitious charity make an even greater difference.

Being a Pact trustee is an opportunity to:

  • Help guide a respected national charity at an exciting stage of growth
  • Support work that strengthens families and reduces reoffending
  • Work alongside a committed and experienced Board and leadership team
  • See first-hand the difference that support, connection and opportunity can make in people's lives

The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed, and typically involves around 45 hours a year attending Board and committee meetings, events and visits.

We'd love to have a conversation. If you'd like to find out more about Pact, our plans for the future, or what's involved in the role, we'd be delighted to arrange an informal chat with our Chair Jim McManus or Chief Executive Andy Keen Downs CBE – just email EA@prisonadvice.org.uk.

And if this opportunity isn't right for you, please consider sharing it with someone in your network. Many of our brilliant trustees found us when somebody they knew said, "I think you'd be great at this."
