  1. About us
  2. Our team

Our President and Vice President

Our President

The President of Pact is His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.

Pact is the major Catholic charity providing support for prisoners and their families, working in most prisons across England and Wales. This work is a direct expression of our discipleship and a very concrete expression of our desire to serve the Lord in those who are most vulnerable.

Our Vice President

The Vice President of Pact is Archbishop John Wilson of Southwark.

Having worked as a prison chaplain I know first-hand something of the realities of life in prison. I am pleased to support the mission of Pact as a Catholic charity which helps prisoners and their families to make a fresh start. Putting the Gospel into practice, Pact works to strengthen family life, enable people to make a contribution to society, and to protect our communities. This is vital work in helping to change lives for a better future for all.

A President and Vice President play an honorary role in a charitable organisation. They are not executive roles with operational or strategic responsibility, but demonstrate the continued commitment of the Church to supporting prisoners and their families to make a fresh start, and to minimise the harm that can be caused by imprisonment on people who have committed offences, on families and on communities. If you would like to know more about our vision, mission and values, please click here. If you would like to find out more about our roots, our 120 year history, and what the future holds for Pact, please read or watch The Pact Story.
